Parging

It involves applying a thin layer of cement-based mortar (typically 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick) over exposed foundation walls, such as concrete or masonry, to create a decorative and protective finish. The purpose is multifaceted: it seals minor cracks to prevent water infiltration, improves aesthetics by hiding unsightly block patterns, and adds a layer of insulation against temperature fluctuations. The process starts with surface preparation, including cleaning and applying a bonding agent, followed by mixing and troweling on the parging material in one or two coats for a smooth or textured look.
